It was only recently that the district had witnessed violence in the aftermath of the hijab issue and the murder of a youth.

Commenting on BJP’s preparations for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections, Yediyurappa said that the district-wise tour in the state will begin soon. “With the goal of 150 assembly seats in mind, each leader is touring a particular district every week. Efforts are being made to strengthen the party organization at the district level. We will communicate Prime Minister Modi’s vision and achievements before the people of the state,” he said.

Touching upon the issue of naming the airport in Shivamogga, Yediyurappa reiterated that he does not want the airport to be named after him. “Be it any reason, naming the airport after me is unacceptable. I have already appealed for naming it after freedom fighters or any other achiever. There are a lot of prominent personalities who deserve the honor. Let it be named after them,” he said.

Replying to a query on cabinet expansion, Yediyurappa said that nothing has been decided yet. CM Bommai will be in Delhi tomorrow. It (cabinet expansion) could be discussed with the party officials when he is there. If not, Amit Shah is also scheduled to visit Bengaluru on May 2. The decision could be taken at that time too,” he added.
