BSY thanks Sanchari Vijay's family for donating his organs and saving lives

Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday, June 15 thanked National Award-winning actor Sanchari Vijay’s family for donating his organs to Jeevasarthakathe, an 0rgan donation and transplantation organization in Karnataka.

Sanchari Vijay’s brain was dead after a subdural hematoma i.e. brain bleeding, following which his family decided to donate his organs.

Condoling Vijay’s death, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said he was deeply pained to know about it and expressed his sorrow.

The actor’s motorcycle skidded on Saturday night at JP Nagar in the city and resulted in him sustaining serious head injuries.

Vijay had won the national award for his performance in the film ‘Naanu Avanalla Avalu’ (I’m not him, her) in 2015.

The Jeevasarthakathe has been constituted by the Government of Karnataka for a sustained deceased donor (Cadaver) transplantation program in the state of Karnataka.

Jeevasarthakathe is the body appointed to oversee the implementation of the Transplantation of Human Organs Act of 1994. The organization aims to coordinate the deceased donor transplantation activities and also educate the public on organ donation.

The functions of Jeevasarthakathe include involving the hospitals for active participation of the deceased donor (Cadaver) program through promotional activities, seminars, workshops, and educational programs.

The public awareness program takes place through hospitals, educational institutions, corporates, and non-governmental organizations along with media participation.
