Mangaluru: Bajrang Dal convenor and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Sharan Pumpwell expressed his discontent over chief minister BS Yediyurappa's remark warning of strict action against anyone targeting the minority community. In a TV interview, Yediyurappa said, “Nobody should speak a word against Muslims. I am warning everybody. If anybody uses a small incident to target the whole Muslim community, I will take action against them.” His comments came in the backdrop of reported harassment of people from minority community following the Tabhligi Jamaat incident. Reacting to the this, Pumpwell said that VHP does not support Yediyurappa's comments. "VHP party activists from state are deeply pained at the stance taken by BS Yediyurappa. He must not have made the comments at this juncture," said Pumpwell. He further mentioned that following the chief minister's warning, the district administration and police have filed cases against few Hindu activists who spoke against Muslims on social media. He urged the police not to file cases against any Hindu activist and also to withdraw the cases that have been already filed. Pumpwell said that he has discussed the issue with VHP senior leaders, they have promised us that the issue will be brought to national level leaders notice.
