Speaking to the media persons at a media awards program at Yadagir on Sunday, he said that by advancing Hindi-English and Hindi-Sanskrit, the Centre is attempting to undermine native languages of the states.

“Whenever scrutinized, the Centre points to the mother-tongue strategy it has embraced. Give the Central government a chance to demonstrate to us what number of states asserts Hindi and English as their primary language. The incongruity is, in the matter of primary languages, even the courts too have offered new elucidations”, he regretted.

Prof. S G Siddharamaiah also said “Whichever the first language, the dialect that belongs to the environs and the land must be viewed as the primary language. The Centre must draft its state strategy around this standard and must give languages priority over other languages”,
