Chaitra Kundapura case: Bommai calls for comprehensive investigation

Mangaluru: Former Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai has distanced the BJP from the Chaitra Kundapura case, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into the matter.

He stated that severe punishment should be meted out to anyone found guilty.

Addressing reporters, Bommai asserted, “We take our party’s ticket distribution very seriously, and it is evident that the BJP is not connected to this issue. The struggle involves various individuals and is unrelated to the party. We await the truth to emerge through a proper investigation.”

Regarding the JDS-BJP alliance, he clarified that they have not yet reached the stage of ticket allocation and constituency selection. Currently, they are in the preliminary phase of discussions. Bommai mentioned that senior leaders will convene in the coming days to further deliberate and make decisions. He added that the opposition’s primary objective is to secure more seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
