According to BJP sources, there is a possibility that HD Kumaraswamy may agree to consider Yogeshwar as the alliance candidate. While BJP leaders are actively pushing for this, Yogeshwar has not yet made any definitive decision, even though the deadline has passed. BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra has held telephone discussions with Yogeshwar, advising him not to make any hasty decisions and to remain optimistic about the possibility of securing the ticket.
Sources said, Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka has also sent messages to BJP national leaders in Delhi regarding the matter. BJP leaders have briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah through Union Minister Prahlad Joshi about the situation in Channapatna, emphasizing that Yogeshwar is a winnable candidate.
The BJP leadership has stressed the importance of not losing the constituency under any circumstances. Meanwhile, state leaders have expressed dissatisfaction to the BJP high command about Kumaraswamy’s indecision over the last two months.
