Deep-sea boats laden with a bountiful harvest of fish arrived at the ports on Sunday, signaling a delightful prospect for fish lovers.

The resumption of fishing in Chennai comes after an interruption caused by Cyclone Biparjoy, which disrupted the Arabian Sea and hindered even the land-based fishing boats from venturing into the sea. Consequently, there was a shortage of fresh fish in Karnataka during this period.

While Karnataka has enforced a fishing ban starting from June 1, Chennai had already imposed a fishing ban on April 15, which has now been lifted. The first round of fishing after the ban in Chennai proved to be highly successful, resulting in the capture of an extensive variety of fish species.

This development is poised to alleviate the recent scarcity of fish in Karnataka, providing a boost to the local market and offering a diverse range of fish options to consumers.
