Chief Minister Siddaramaiah allegedly takes U-turn on Hijab ban statements

In a surprising turn of events, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah appears to have reversed his stance on the hijab ban in schools and colleges, causing confusion and sparking controversy.

Despite earlier reports suggesting a withdrawal of the ban, confusion ensued as Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah contradicted these claims.

Earlier, Siddaramaiah had emphasized the importance of personal choices, including those related to food and clothing, and had also indicated that his government would lift the ban on hijab.

The Chief Minister’s statement had triggered a political war of words between opposing parties, as discussions around the ban continued to dominate public discourse.

However, in a media interaction in Mysuru on Saturday, Siddaramaiah said, ” I did not say we will lift the ban on hijabs. I said that discussions would take place at the government level to determine when this decision would be implemented.”
