Childless couple with 54 cats facing difficulty during COVID-19 crisis

Shimoga: An elderly couple without any children who had brought up 54 cats in their house at Tirthahalli are no facing hardship to care for them due to the COVID-19 pandemic-induced financial distress. Savitramma and Janardhan Hebbar live in a house above the Gurushri Hotel in Tirthahalli's Bharatipur. Janardhan worked as an assistant cook. He is jobless since past 4 months due to the COVID-19-induced lockdowns. The couple had brought 3 cats from Bengaluru 12 years ago who have now become 54 cats. More than one hundred cats have already died. They have been spending their days in feeding, bathing caring for the cats all these years. However, COVID-19 pandemic changed everything. The couple, living in a rented house, are finding it difficult to feed themselves. As a result, the couple and the cats have to undergo forced fastings.
