Chitradurga: Murugha Matha seer granted bail

In a significant development, the head of the Murugha Matha in Chitradurga, Dr. Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, has been granted bail in a sexual assault case involving a minor.

The court has ordered his release from jail, following which Murugha Sharanaru is expected to proceed to the Virakta Matha in Davangere.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had recommended granting bail after the testimony of the minor girls involved in the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case was completed.

On Monday, October 7, the Second Additional District Court in Chitradurga approved the bail plea.
