CM Bommai unveils Kedambady Ramayya Gowda statue in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister on Saturday unveiled the bronze statue of Kedambady Ramayya Gowda at Bavutagudde.

Ramayya Gowda had led Amar Sullia’s rebellion against the British government in 1837 much earlier to 1857 Sepoy mutiny.

Dr Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, head of Adichunchanagiri Math, Ministers S Angara, Dr Ashwath Narayan, former Union minister DV Sadananda Gowda, MLAs Vedavyasa Kamath, Bharat Shetty, Sanjiva Mathandur, U.T. Khader, Mangaluru Mayor Jayananda Anchan, DC Ravikumar and others were present.

Bommai also visited State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel at the hospital, enquired about his health, and wished him a speedy recovery.

Speaking to the reporters, Bommai said, ” Due to incessant rains, the  Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway repair work has been delayed. I will soon meet Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss the issue. The repair works will be done on a priority basis.”

Talking about the voter theft case, he said, ” Voter list revision is done every year and also during elections. It is a process initiated by the Election commission. The opposition demands judicial inquiry for every issue. When they were in power, a judicial inquiry was held into the BDA issue which helped them get away with it. At present, police officials are investigating the issue and strict action will be taken against the accused.”

He further said,” Preparations for providing basic facilities for the green hydrogen projects are underway. Three renewable energy companies have received approval from the high-level approval committee.  The work is going on at a very fast pace and 2-3 companies have claimed to begin the work in March-April.  The fuel required for the renewable energy plant will also be obtained from renewable energy sources such as solar and windmills.”
