Bengaluru: Former union minister C M Ibrahim resigned from the post of Janata Dal (S) Karnataka state president following the party’s poor performance in Karnataka assembly elections.
Speaking to media persons Ibrahim said that he met party supremo H.D. Deve Gowda on Wednesday and submitted his resignation. “Taking moral responsibility for the party’s defeat, I have submitted my resignation as state president,” he said.
JDS had fielded 148 candidates and won only 19 seats in the state assembly elections.
Meanwhile, former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy was elected unopposed as the leader of the JD(S) during the legislature party meet on Wednesday.
