So, what are these colour gas canisters?

Smoke canisters, commonly known as smoke bombs, are legally available in most countries and widely used for various purposes. The smoke created is non-toxic and are sold in retail markets.

They have multiple uses – both in military and civilian scenarios – such as aiding in creating smoke screens for concealment in military operations, photography effects, and fan displays in sports, notably in European football.

Thick smoke released by smoke grenades serves vital purposes in military and law enforcement activities, concealing troop movements and offering cover during operations. Smoke canisters are also utilized in demarcating target zones for airstrikes, troop landings, and evacuation points.

Creative photography frequently employs smoke canisters to craft artistic effects and illusions.

In sports, especially football, fans utilize smoke canisters to showcase their clubs’ colors. European football fan clubs, often known as ‘ultras,’ deploy smoke cans and pyrotechnics to establish imposing atmospheres for visiting teams.
