“The Congress is not bothered about farmers, welfare of the people and development of the State but is mired in corruption while it indulges in divisive politics. The Congress could have initiated the process of desilting the Tungabhadra dam and ensured adequate supply of water for farmers, but it has failed to do so,” he said. He also added that people were frustrated under such a government, which would make them vote for the BJP, in order to bring about a change.
Mr. Adityanath also expressed his dislike over the fact that the Congress had not allowed celebrations of Hanuma Jayanthi in the State, but was not opposed to celebrating Tipu Jayanthi. He spoke about the historic and cultural importance of Hampi and Anegundi, which is the birth place of Hanuman and promised that Hanuma Jayanthi and Sri Krishnadevaraya Jayanthi will be celebrated magnanimously, under the BJP’s rule.
Later on in the meeting, Mr. Adityanath was felicitated with a silver mace by BJP nominee from Vijayanagar H.R. Gaviyappa.
