After Unlock 1.0, most of the homestays, resorts, and hotels reopened, as a result, a hill station in Chikmagalur, Kodagu, and Hassan attracted tourists from various parts of the state, especially from Bengaluru, resulting in increase of COVID-19 cases in these regions. It may be recalled that following the increase in footfall, Chikkamagaluru district administration had issued an advisory to people to cancel their tour plans.
