Mangaluru: The ICC Cricket World Cup begins on May 30 and the city Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil has warned against betting and promising strict action against the same.
Since the past few years, cricket betting has been on the rise in Mangaluru. However, as soon as Sandeep Patil took charge as the new Police Commissioner, he has started taking strict action against this offence with the aim to curb it completely.
18 cases during IPL
As many as 18 cases on betting were booked during the last IPL resulting in arrests of 40 people. Therefore, Mr Patil has warned through twitter against betting as World Cup will go on from today till July 14.
