During the cabinet meeting held on Thursday, administrative approval was granted for constructing a bridge on the Mangaluru-Cheruvathur-Coastal District Main Road (Kotekar-Bolar route) over the Nethravathi River.
The project, estimated to cost Rs 200 crore, is expected to bring significant relief to the region’s residents. The new bridge, to be built west of the existing NH-66 and railway bridges near Jeppinamogaru, will span 1,400 meters between Kotekar and Bolar.
The bridge will enable quick transportation of goods, especially for fishing purposes, between Mangaluru and Kerala, bypassing city traffic. It is expected to ease congestion caused by heavy vehicle movement on highways and will serve as an alternative route between Kasaragod and Mangaluru.
