Puttur: In a major goof-up, question papers circulated among students for the second PUC preparatory examination in history subject held at Dakshina Kannada excluded the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir from the India map.

The exam was held on March 19 and students were asked to identify any five historical places on the map of India provided to them and describe these places in two sentences. However, the map provided to the students in Dakshina Kannada district excluded Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The blunder was reported only in the Dakshina Kannada district while question papers provided in other districts depicted the full map.

Preparatory question papers are usually prepared under the supervision of the PU history lecturers’ association. However this year the work was entrusted to the principals and lecturers association as directed by the PU Board.

Reportedly, an investigation has been ordered into the matter. Upon coming to know of the blunder, student and other organisations are planning to stage protests against the district level principals and lecturers association and the officials for not reviewing the question papers before providing them to the students.
