Death Toll of Patients Rises to 9 as Private Doctors Continue with Strike in Karnataka

Bengaluru: As many as 9 patients died at various parts of Karnataka amid private doctors’ protest against proposed Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (Amendment) Bill 2017. The routine operations at private hospitals, clinics and others have stalled in the state since Monday morning and lakhs of patients were seen struggling to avail medical facilities. The doctors were seen continuing their protests on Wednesday also and all medical services including paramedic have been stopped and hit the lives of the patients badly.

The list of 9 patients include Hassan Siddaiahnagar based 3 month old baby Nadeem Farhana, Hubballi native, dengue patient Vaishnavi Jadhav (12), Koppal Mukkumpi village resident Gynappa Bidnalage (56), Hungund taluk native, APMC merchant Shekharappa Gynappa Jakli (52), one year old baby, Sayina in Baidagi, Kaginele PU Student Basavaraja Didagura, Haveri resident Mardansab (18), road accident victims Ashok (40) and Chandu Vghamore (27) in Athani reportedly lost their lives amid agitation by the doctors against proposed bill.

Meanwhile, chief minister Siddaramaiah has expressed his anger on agitating doctors as they were seen continuing their protests even if the state government assured a detailed discussion on the bill before discussing g the same in the current winter session of the state legislature at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi.
