On October 25, Bhat filed for anticipatory bail, which was accepted by the court on November 9.

It can be recalled that on October 18, Congress protested demanding the closure of Surathkal Toll Gate. At this point in time, Kulai was detained from the protest site along with other protesters.

As she refused to be detained, she complained that she was treated indecently.

Taking to this to social media, Bhat had allegedly posted derogatory posts.
