Dharmavara lorry accident: Activa pillion rider dies

Brahmavar: In a accident involving a lorry and a active scooter that took place at Dharmavara here on Thursday evening claimed the life of the pillion rider of the scooter. The deceased is identified as Raunak Suvarna (35) while the rider of the scooter identified as Shashidhar is safe.

Both the victims were employees of Nexa showroom in Udupi and were on their way to meet a client at Mabukala when the incident occurred. As they reached Dharmavara, a omni car which was in front of the scooter suddenly lowered it speed without indication and turned towards the left. Accordingly, Shashidhar also brought down the speed of the scooter. It is said that, a lorry which was following the scooter in close proximity ended up hitting the scooter from its rear.

The lorry was in enough speed to drag the scooter along with it for some distance after hitting it. Raunak, who was riding pillion on the scooter suffered major trauma to his head and breathed his last on the spot. The lorry which caused the accident has escaped.

Raunak was originally from Shivamogga and was presently residing at Ambalapady. It is learnt that he had gotten married very recently.
