As Monkeypox has been spreading in some African countries, authorities have implemented screening procedures for travelers arriving at Mangalore International Airport and Mangalore Port. A dedicated ambulance is on standby, and a special ward has been set up at Wenlock Hospital to treat any potential Monkeypox cases.
Special meeting to be held
Dr. Thimmaiah, the District Health Officer of Dakshina Kannada, assured that there is currently no threat of Monkeypox in the district, and no official directives have been received from the state government. Continuous screening is being conducted for international travelers at the airport and port. Six beds have been reserved at Wenlock Hospital as a precautionary measure, and a special meeting will be held soon to assess the situation.

The recent reduction in rainfall is believed to have contributed to the rise in viral infections, including symptoms like cough, cold, and throat pain. Doctors have reported an increase in patients seeking treatment, particularly among children. While daytime temperatures remain high, occasional rains at night have been recorded in some areas. Health professionals emphasize the need for precautions to prevent the further spread of illnesses.
