Bengaluru: Former Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has urged the state government to reconsider its decision on conduct of SSLC exams from June 25 onwards. Pointing out that the number of coronavirus cases are increasing in the state, the JDS leader said that the government should not expose students to risk of contracting the infection by holding the exams now. "The government should immediately withdraw its decision of holding the SSLC exam. If necessary, the government should wait till October and later they can schedule the exams," he tweeted. In yet another tweet, Kumaraswamy stated that the neighbouring Telangana state has already cancelled the SSLC exam amid fears of community transmission. Karnataka government too can take a similar decision. The government is risking lives of nearly 8 lakh SSLC students, parents and around 24 lakh people including test faculty and student parents. The state government and Education Minister will be responsible for any disaster arising due to this, said Kumaraswamy.
