He was suffering from age-related ailments for some time and was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Bengaluru for treatment. He passed away at the hospital on Sunday without responding to treatment, sources said.
Dr Sanganabasava Swamiji assumed the leadership of Kotturu Swami Matha in Ballari-Hospete in 1972 and the leadership of Halakere Annadatheshwara Matha in 1987.
He served as president of the Shivayoga mandir for 25 years and later became its lifetime president. The late seer was an advocate of 9 of the Basava Puranas and had performed mass marriages of all religions and served the prosperity of society.

Dr. Sanganabasava was born in 1938 to Basavalingaiah and Guramma couple of Bidare village in Jamakhandi Taluk. Losing his mother at an early age, Sanganabasava Swamiji pursued his primary education at an ashram of Kumbarageri Matha in Bailahongala. Later, he pursued his spiritual education at the Shivoyoga Mandira for 12 years and involved himself in the ascetic life. He was a polyglot who was well versed in Kannada, English, Sanskrit, and Hindi.
