Engineers’ Should Convey Technology Changes to the Society: VTU Vice Chancellor

Belagavi: “In this growing era, it is vital for Engineering graduates to convey developments in the field of technology to the society”, said Dr Karisiddappa, Vice-Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University. He was speaking as the chief guest at a function to felicitate toppers held at KLS Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi.

He also noted that, Engineering students who had graduated and were working in various areas, should not forgot their Alma Mater and their teachers; they had to share any new technology or developments in their respective fields with institutes so that it could be included in the curriculum which would help students. Further, they should also be disciplined, he added.

He then said that the tradition of honoring meritorious students and the recognition from institutes would boost confidence among students and also encourage them to achieve more.

Another eminent personality Dr. K Ramchandra Rao, Inspector General of Police (IGP) was present as the guest of honor for the function. Speaking on the occasion, he said that he was a gold medalist during his Masters’. He said that success gave an optimistic kick and the person gained an advantage to achieve further levels.

To achieve continuity in success, recognitions and appreciations are a must, he said. He then reaclled the statement, “Inside every irregular stone there is a beautiful sculpture.” He also appreciated the work done by GIT and said that it was doing the work of removing the unwanted and irregular part from the stone to showcase knowledge and culture blended in beautiful sculpture.

As many as 84 college toppers, including University rank holders were felicitated with cash rewards. The scholarships were also disbursed from endowments instituted by alumni and few philanthropists.
