The university filed a police complaint against the private firm it hired to scan the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) answer scripts for allegedly tampering with the marks of the students.

According to the reports, K Jyothi, Registrar (Administration) demanded an enquiry against the firm which was given the tender to scan the OMR answer scripts and upload the results of undergraduate and postgraduate students announced from the end of 2018 till date.

The FIR stated that the marks allotted to 804 students were changed after evaluation and that the results of the same were provided through an email and CD to the concerned colleges.

“The Registrar (Evaluation) brought this to the administration’s notice and after internal verification with the examination section, tampering of marks was exposed,” said Jyothi.

“The police complaint was filed after discussing the issue with the vice-chancellor,” she added.

Jyothi further informed that an internal enquiry will be conducted along with the police investigation as they suspect the involvement of a few university employees, students, and affiliate colleges.

The university’s syndicate is also scheduled to meet on January 5 to discuss the issue and decide on the nature of the action to be initiated against the offenders.

Reports claim that a few syndicate members demanded a CBI inquiry to look into the matter and are seeking a status report on previous malpractices reported since 2014 at the university.

A senior syndicate member even claimed that they demanded the withdrawal of results of those students until the enquiry is completed.
