The victim has been identified as R.R. Nagar resident Chandrashekhar (42), who worked as a tempo driver.
Police are searching for the main accused Bhaskar and his accomplices.
Police said the victim Chandrashekhar, a native of Mandya, ran a flower shop and lived in Srinagar locality in the city before the Corona pandemic hit. He returned to his hometown during the lockdown due to losses in the business. After the lockdown, he returned to Bengaluru and made his home in RR Nagar. In addition, he worked as a driver for his brother’s Tempo Traveler.

A few days prior to his death, Chandrashekhar had filed a complaint at the Hanumanthanagar police station about the assault and death threats. He had also sought protection from the police and mentioned that Bhaskar and his friends should be held responsible if any attempts were made on his life.
Chandrashekhar also had financial dealings and disputes with the main accused.
On Friday evening, Bhaskar and his friends invited Chandrashekhar to a spot behind Mahaveer Jain Hospital under Byatarayanapura police station limits. There they consumed alcohol and partied for a while. But, a scuffle broke out between the accused and Chandrashekhar.
Chandrashekar was attacked with lethal weapons and then his head was smashed with a stone. The accused then fled from the spot said the police sources.
A case has been registered at the Byaterayanapura police station.
