Fake message in name of Manipal police goes viral, officials clarify

Udupi: A fake message in the name of Manipal police informing about a gang of women who visits houses in Udupi city posing to sell phenyl product and then loot jewelry and valuables is gone viral on the social media platform.

The police responded to this and said, “We have not shared any such message to the public and such gang is not operated in Udupi. The incident was reported in Vijayapura last week and the Vijayapura police have released a caution notice to the public.”

It is learned that the fake message also had the official number of Manipal police station.
