Toll gate staff personnel called off the strike following an assurance from Hejamadi tollgate manager, Shivaprasad Rai on the condition that the salary should be deposited into their bank accounts before 12 pm today (Saturday) failing which they would resort to strike again.

The protestors, around 180 in number alleged that though the previous contractor Marcoline Company had recovered all his expenses till July before handing over charge to Navayuga company they had not disbursed the staff salary.

As a result of the sudden strike, vehicles passing through the gate did so without paying toll charges resulting in a revenue loss of around Rs 3 lakhs to Navayuga company.

Social worker Panduranga Karkera, Padubidri police assistant sub-inspectors, Gangadhar and Sudesh Shetty were present at Hejamadi toll gate while Nityananda Gowda, Kota station sub-inspector was manning the situation at Sasthan tollgate.
