Form committees to check cattle theft: Minister Prabhu Chauhan instructs district admin

Mangaluru: On the backdrop of increasing cases of cattle theft being reported from the coastal belt of the state, Minister for animal husbandry, Prabhu Chauhan, has written to Deputy commissioners and Superintendents of Police asking them to form ‘Gau Rakshana Samiti’ (Cow Protection Committees).

Taking action based on media reports, the minister instructed the district administration and the police to increase vigilance on the illegal transport of bovines within their respective limits. They have also been asked to increase night police beats and to strengthen verification mechanisms at check-posts.

To distinguish the genuine cattle buyers and sellers, the minister has instructed to make sure a sale deed is signed by the owners and buyers on an e-stamp paper along with the photo evidence be updated into the Date Camera App to be produced during police verification during transport.
