Former Minister Ramanath Rai has urged the new Karnataka government to establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by a senior investigator to probe political killings in Dakshina Kannada district.
Speaking at a press conference held at the District Congress office on Friday, Rai highlighted the victimization of several Hindu and Muslim youths, including Sharat Madiwala, Ashraf, Jalil Karopadi, Praveen Nettar, Masood, due to religious politics.
Rai specifically recommended the appointment of Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, the former SP of the district, as the head of the SIT.
Rai expressed his belief that the new government’s serious consideration and action would help put an end to attempts that threaten harmony in the district.
