If colour has to be used, only non-poisonous paint which naturally mixes with water may be used. All decoration used on the statue during the puja must be removed prior to discharging the statue into the water. The statue must be discharged in such a way so as to not cause any form of damage to the water resource.

The use of statues made from clay and painted with natural colours is recommended. The manufacture of statues through plaster of paris or any other substance has been banned, informed a press release from the concerned department.
