Geeta Jayanti Celebrations in Udupi: Golden chariot procession and special events held

Udupi: Geeta Jayanti was celebrated with grandeur at the Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi on Wednesday, Dec 11. The event included a special golden chariot procession and a scholarly symposium.

As part of the Geeta Mahotsava, Paryaya Sri Puthige Matha’s junior pontiff, Sri Sushreendra Teertha Swamiji, performed the “Geetamrutamahodadhi” alankara for Lord Krishna. Paryaya Peetadhipathi Sri Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji later conducted the Maha Puja.

The highlight of the celebrations was the Rathotsava, where a copy of the Bhagavad Gita was placed in the golden chariot and taken in a grand procession along the Rathabeedi (Car Street), accompanied by devotees.

Symposium at Rajangana:
A symposium held in the Rajangana Hall of Sri Krishna Matha was inaugurated by Mahamahopadhyaya Sadhu Sri Bhadresh Das of the Swaminarayan Research Institute, New Delhi.

The event saw notable guests, including Nitish Bharadwaj, renowned for portraying Krishna in the Mahabharata television series, host Master Anand, businessman Bhuvanendra Kidiyoor, and Shatavadhani Dr. Ramanatha Acharya.

On this occasion, Karnataka’s Chief Postmaster General S. Rajendra Kumar released a special postal cover to commemorate the event.
