Geethartha Chinthane 149: Why So Much Inequality in the World? No Answers

The question arises, If we accept that virtue and sin are impersonal truths, why must we accept the Vedas? To resolve doubts, a structured scripture is essential. If any individual makes a statement, the natural human tendencies like ignorance and other flaws can influence it. Blind faith without questioning cannot be termed as firm belief. Without clarity of philosophical principles, one would simply listen to anything anyone says.

During an interfaith gathering in New Jersey, we posed a private question to various religious leaders: Why is there so much inequality in the world? Why is one person poor, another rich, one healthy, another diseased, one a thief, and another virtuous? Why is everyone so different? None of them provided a clear answer.

When further asked, Forget the future; at least explain why things are the way they are now, there was still no response. They admitted, We have not thought so deeply about it.

Without accepting the principle of karma, there is no other plausible explanation. Humans must have doubts, and when questions are asked, one should not waver. Meditation should follow after attaining firm clarity. As the saying goes, “Dhyanam Nishchita Tantreasy”.
