Geethartha Chinthane 19: Continuous Observation to Realize God's Will

‘Vritti’ means mental state (mano vritti/psychology/nature). Nowadays, we also use ‘vritti’ to mean ‘occupation’. Psychology applies to all living beings (jeevas). Every living being acts according to their karma and nature. For this reason, the Lord incarnated as Veda Vyasa to guide all beings toward salvation. Animals and birds also have mental functions. It is based on these principles that life continues to evolve, eventually leading to salvation as a human being. The Dharmashastras teach us all this. The thoughts of living beings arise according to their merit (jeeva yogyathe).

Even though Vibhishana lived in Ravana’s palace, his thoughts were different. Why is this? Because it depends on the worthiness of each living being, or jeeva yogyathe. Even a good person may go astray due to karma, but they eventually return to their true nature. To know God’s will, one must constantly reflect and review. We should continuously contemplate what God intends for us. Our work should be proper and good.
