Katyayani derives her name from the sage Katya, in whose hermitage she was born. The Adishakti idol represents Katyayani with four hands and three eyes, seated gracefully atop a formidable lion. Her right hands make the Abhaya and Varada mudras, symbolizing fearlessness and blessings. In her left hands, she holds a lotus and a sword, while a crescent moon graces her forehead.
Devotees turn to the worship of Maa Katyayani to seek solace for their sins and to nurture harmonious and blissful marital lives.
