Mohan was admitted to the hospital after suffering a massive brain-stem stroke. Soon after the decision was taken to donate his organs, arrangements were made and a green corridor was created to transport the heart from the hospital on Old Airport Road to Shri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology and Research on Bannerghatta Road on Saturday morning. Authorities managed to cover a 11 kilometer distance in 10 minutes.

The heart was received by Suresh (45) who was desperately in need of one as he suffered from dilated cardiomyopathy.

Dr Shantala Kurtkoti, Deputy Medical Superintendent at Manipal Hospital informed that the organs were harvested under the guidance of Zonal Coordination Committee of Karnataka for Organ Transplantation (ZCCK). She added that the liver and kidneys were transplanted at Manipal Hospital itself.
