Gujarat: Pakistani boat intercepted in Indian waters; Heroin worth Rs 280 crores confiscated

New Delhi: Indian security forces apprehended a Pakistani boat off the coast of Gujarat and confiscated huge cache of drugs from it.

In a joint operation with ATS Gujarat, the India Coast Guard ships apprehended a Pakistani boat ‘Al Haj’ with 9 crew, on the Indian side of the Arabian sea carrying heroin worth approx Rs 280 crores, news agency ANI reported the Indian Coast Guard as saying.

The boat is being brought to Jakhau for further investigation and is expected to reach there at 3 PM today, the report adds.

The boat was capable of high speed and was forcibly stopped after a chase. The security forces reportedly had to fire at the boat to prevent its escape.

One crew on board the Pakistani boat suffered an injury and the other two minor bruises, ICG said.
