Gundlupet: One killed, several injured in Tata Ace-KSRTC bus collision

Gundlupet: A person died on the spot and several others were injured following a head-on collision between a Tata Ace and a KSRTC bus near Lakkur Gate here.

The deceased has been identified as Siddaraju (33), a resident of Hangala village. Two of those injured namely, Nagaraju (18) and Tejas (19) are said to be in critical condition and have been shifted to a hospital in Mysuru for further treatment.

The other injured persons have been identified as Siddaraju (42), Siddappa (37), Jagadish alias Siddaraju (37), Rupesh (42), Prajwal (13), and Prashanth.

As per reports, the occupants of the Tata Ace vehicle were proceeding to the Chikkaluru fair when a speeding KSRTC bus rammed into it. The front portion of the Tata Ace vehicle was completely crushed and the KSRTC bus too was damaged due to the impact of the collision. The bus driver was also injured in the mishap.

Terakanambi Police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Chamarajanagar District Hospital in an ambulance.

The Terakanambi police seized both the vehicles and registered a case.

The accident led to a traffic jam on the Chamarajanagar-Gundlupet state highway for more than half an hour. The police then facilitated the smooth flow of traffic.
