The accused were remanded to 90-day judicial custody on February 21. Their term was to end on May 21 but based on the plea moved by the prosecution, the court passed an order allowing further extension of the custody for another 90 days as per the provisions made Under section 43D(2)(b) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act

The prosecution, in its petition, contended that the testimony of eyewitnesses to the murder is pending since no one is willing to testify in the case. The NIA said that efforts were being made to find eyewitnesses after assuring them of not disclosing their identity.

The petition further said that the forensic examination report of electronic gadgets seized from the accused needs to be obtained and people who were in contact with the accused before and after the offence need to be examined to gather more information.
