HDK Blames Karnataka Govt for Chaos in Police Dept; Chief Minister Defends Transfer of Top Cops

Bengaluru: Karnataka state JDS President HD Kumaraswamy (HDK) blamed advisor for Karnataka state home ministry, Kempaiah for present chaos in state police department. His statement came in the wake of transfer of five IPS officers including Prisons DIG D Roopa amid Parappana Agrahara Central Prison row.

Speaking to media persons here in Vidhana Soudha on Monday, HDK said Kempaiah is directly responsible for all controversies have been haunting the state police department for some time. Intelligence bureau has also failed akin to Kempaiah to prevent series of incidents of communal clashes in Dakshina Kannada during the last 2 months, HDK alleged.

HDK further noted that no honest police officer can work efficiently in Karnataka as the government restricts them from performing their duty with responsibility, HDK said criticizing the state government’s order to transfer Prisons DIG D Roopa as new traffic commissioner amid Parappana Agrahara Prison row.

Meanwhile, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah defended his government’s move to transfer D Roopa and other four senior police officers and described the order as an administrative process by the government. He also added that, every matter concerned to the government need not to be shared with media.
