Heavy rains continue to lash Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi: Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts witnessed heavy rains on Saturday, July 10. The rains intensified the next day morning, July 11.

In Kallagudde of Bantwal taluk, the compound hall of a house got collapsed. The owner and a toddler, who was sleeping inside the house suffered minor injuries.

Apart from that, a house got damaged due to landslides on a nearby hill and another house at Kuvettu village of Beltangady taluk got damaged as a tree fell on it.

Manglauru received good rains but intensified in the evenings and nights. The area of Dakshina Kannada district that received good rains are Puttur, Uppinangady, Sullia, Panja, Kadaba, Subramanya, Beltangady, Guruvayanakere, Dharmasthala, Madyantharu, Punjalakatte, Vittal, Bantwal, Kanyana, Moodbidri, Ullal, Surathkal, Mudipu and Mulky.

Many places experienced power cuts as trees got uprooted.

Tourists have been warned not to venture into the sea. Karkala, Hebri, Shankaranarayana, Kundapur and Kaup in Udupi district received heavy rains.
