The heavy downpour caused the rivers to overflow creating flood like situation in villages and towns in the region.
The district administration in the rain affected areas has set up helplines and rehabilitation camps. Schools and Colleges remained closed today in Dakshin Kannada district.
AIR Correspondent reports, the met department in Karnataka has issued warning that rains will lash several districts neighbouring Kerala for the next three days.

Heavy rains are likely to continue for few more days in the region, the IMD said.
Additional Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Mritunjay Mohapatra said there is a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal which will make the monsoon current more active.
The IMD said rainfall activity over Kerala, Karnataka and the ghats of Tamil Nadu is likely to increase in intensity again, in addition to a fresh surge of monsoon westerlies.
South Konkan region and Goa is also likely to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, the IMD said.
