Sensitive areas in Chitradurga, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and other parts of the state are being closely monitored by the police and other security agencies to prevent any unpleasant incidents following strong objection from BJP and Hindu outfits which tried to force the government from organizing Tipu Jayanti.

Hindu outfits have called for Kodagu Bandh on Friday to register their protests against state government sponsored birth anniversary of Tipu who allegedly killed thousands of Hindus as a communal personality in the history of Southern India.

Meanwhile, state government has banned all protests marches, posters, flex boards and other means of communication inconnection with jayanti in all parts of Karnataka.

Security has been beefed up in Sullia, Puttur and Belthangady in Dakshina Kannada as opposition BJP is also organising ‘Parivartan Yatra’ on November 10 to register its protest against the state government which failed to address the needs of the people during the past 4.5 years. Earlier, there were protests by the opposition BJP to stop the government from organizing the event in the memory of Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan.
