Hiriadka: Undertrial prisoner accused of Henuberu murder case commits suicide

Hiriadka: An undertrial prisoner named Sadananda Sherigar accused in the Henuberu murder case of June 12, this year, committed suicide in a sub-jail near Hiriadka on Sunday, December 11.

Reportedly, Sadananda committed suicide by hanging in a prison cell consisting of 20 prisoners at 5 AM on Sunday with a help of dhoti.

The prisoners who saw him hanging brought him down and rushed him to the nearby hospital.

However, he died midway.

Sadananda was accused of killing a person named Anand Devadiga in a car, in relation to a land-related case, recently, in the secluded area falling under the forest department limits of Henuberu, Byndoor taluk.  Anand was forcefully made to drink alcohol along with sleeping tablets. Later the car was set ablaze leaving Anand’s body charred beyond recognition.

The reports suggested that he was inspired by the Malayalam movie “Kurup” to take such a horrific step along with his brother and close aides.

He had failed in his attempts to recreate the crime scene to make believe the police that he was killed in the car.
