Bengaluru: The Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) has stated that children’s health being severely affected by the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is highly unlikely.

Many members of the IAP have stated that surveys and data from the first two waves show that children were similarly affected and were not contracting the severe forms of the virus.

One paediatrician was of the view that children are contracting the virus from adults who were not vaccinated and go out more often.

Hence, immunisation is the only solution presently available to prevent the spread of the virus.

Another expert, however, cautioned that the disease we should be more concerned about is the Multisystemic Inflammatory Syndrome-Children (MIS-C).
