IMD issues Yellow Alert for four districts of K’taka on Jan 7

Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted cloudy weather in the State till January 9 due to a weather anomaly over the Bay of Bengal which is already causing brief showers in many parts of the State.

In the southern and interior parts of the State including Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu and Shimoga districts Yellow Alert has been declared as there are chances of 64.5 millimetres to 115.5-millimetre rainfall in these areas on January 7.

Until January 9, most parts of the State will experience cloudy weather and scattered showers. Coastal and northern parts of the State will experience slightly above normal cold days and nights, the forecast said.

According to the report by the Department on Monday, Dakshina Kannada district’s Dharmasthala received 5 centimetres rainfall while Shivamogga and Kodagu received 3 centimetres each.

Sullia, Bhadravati and Lakkavalli received 2 centimetres rainfall each.

The minimum temperature recorded in Hassan was 11.6 degree Celsius and 12.6 degree Celsius in Bidar while the maximum temperature at Karwar was 35.8 degree Celsius.
