The issue was proposed by member Sudhakar Shetty Mairmady during the regular meeting presided by ZP president Dinakara Babu and demanded, ‘the work is of inferior quality and must be investigated.’ Supporting this demand, Janardana Tonse said, ‘the investigation be done by the Lokayukta or ZP house committee.’ In response, Chief Planning Officer Shrinivas Rao said, “It is not possible to create ZP house committee. The investigation may be conducted under the leadership of the president.”

Ineffective works

A bridge has been constructed at location where there is no estuary at the cost of Rs 84 lakh. This is ineffective, complained Social Justice Standing Committee president Shashikant Padubidri. 59 drinking water unit have been installed in the district of which a few are ineffective, said Tonse.

“At some places, PCO’s have remained for over 6-7 years. More groupism occurs in such GP’s. If PDO who have remained at the same place for more than 3 years are transferred, the problems will be solved in the least,” said Sumith Shetty and Pratap Hegde Marali.

Humps to stop deer trouble!

Accidents are taking place along Havanji-Pardur road due to deer coming on to the road from the reserve forest. Fencing is required here, said Janardan Tonse. Forest officials responded that installing fences will hinder the movement of the deer. Therefore, humps may be installed to reduce the speed of the vehicles and reflector boards maybe erected for precaution.

Plastic ban has failed

“There is ban on the use of plastic in the city. But in some village, use of plastic is occurring unchecked. If the rule has to be followed, it needs to be followed strictly everywhere,” said Sumith Shetty, Reshma Shetty, Shipla Suvarna and others. “Before giving the green certificate to marriages for not using plastic, a compulsory inspection must be conducted,” said Janardan Tonse.

“Plastic ban has been implemented in the district since 2016. Action is being taken for the strict implementation of the ban at all villages and city limits. The parameters for green marriage certificate are being followed strictly,” said Srinivas Rao, chief planning officer.

“Plastic production must be controlled,” said Pratap Hegde.
