Karnataka Chief Minister Denies Benami Property Allegations Worth More than Rs 100 Cr

Bengaluru: A complaint registered against Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah before Income Tax (IT) department which alleged that the chief minister has benami properties worth more than Rs 100 crore. The complainant, Ramamurthy Gowda alleged that Siddaramaiah has benami property in the name of 40 persons and handed over documents containing 1638 pages to prove his statement.

Speaking on the complaint registered against him before IT department, chief minister said that the complaint is based on fake records and documents. However, an investigation by IT department would prove the truth behind the allegations.

IT officials reportedly started their investigation based on the complaint and have asked the complainant to handover additional proofs which could prove his statements made.  In the complaint registered, the complainant, Ramamurthy Gowda has sought an investigation under Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act as chief minister has purchased benami property worth more than 100 crore in the name of his friends and relatives.
