The NCRB report indicates a concerning trend of increasing financial crimes in Karnataka over the last three years. In 2020, 5,107 cases were registered, and the number rose to 6,447 in 2021. The analysis of these figures reveals a substantial surge in Rajasthan, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh, where the number of cases has surpassed 22 thousand.

According to NCRB, the state records 11.2 percent of economic crimes per one lakh people, with a charge-sheet filing rate of 54.1 percent.

Financial crimes, including fraud, counterfeiting, and cheating, are notably high among South Indian states. In 2022, out of the registered financial crime cases, 195 were transferred to other states and investigating agencies. The report also notes that 503 cases remained undetected due to a lack of proper documentation and evidence.
